Senior Product Design Manager, Instructor Experience

About the role

As the Design Manager for Udemy’s Instructor Experience, you will lead product design for products used by over 35,000 instructors globally.

You will champion our instructor’s success in creating and publishing courses, engaging with their students, and managing their businesses - ultimately helping more than 24 million students improve their lives through learning. You will build and lead a design team that partners closely with product managers, researchers, and engineers to prioritize, create, and ship simple, elegant, and easy of use features across all platforms. You will be a key member of the design leadership team at Udemy, reporting to the Head of Design and influencing the overall design strategy and process for a diverse, global team. There will be plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty with design on projects, too!

Here's what you will be doing:

  • Provide design leadership across all projects within the Instructor Experience team to maximize impact for our instructors and students

  • Build, inspire and mentor the design team to drive creativity and career growth

  • Lead the design team to come up with innovative design for our products and features

  • Maintain high standards for execution and attention to detail

  • Contribute to design processes and internal project planning for the Instructor team and Udemy’s core design team

  • Partner closely with product leaders, engineering managers and business stakeholders to ensure seamless introduction of new products and features with top-notch user experience

  • Oversee the execution of projects to ensure project goals and timelines are met

  • Navigate a collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment to get things done

  • Contribute to Udemy's mission with compassion and empathy for our instructors and students

  • Own and evangelize the design and experience vision for our instructor experience

We're excited about you because you have:

  • 8+ years of experience in UX, product design and visual design for web based products

  • 2+ years of experience managing product design teams

  • Experience with user research, ideation, early usability studies, iterative approach to product development and deployment

  • Track record of working on product releases with significant design components from start to finish

  • Superior communications skills, ability to facilitate a diverse room of stakeholders and inspire cross-departmental collaboration

  • You excel at building and mentoring teams by fostering an awesome team culture and positive working relationships

  • Portfolio showcasing projects that demonstrate your problem solving process as well as pixel-perfect design solutions

  • Eagerness to join a design team that is excited to change lives around the world through learning
