Deliberately progressive; offering lots of practical tactics and conceptual applications for effectively scaling as a leader.
— Maxine Wicks, Director Product Design UX at Target
DLF II is an outstanding primer on deeper, more sustainable leadership that can unlock new ways of thinking and growing in your creative leadership practice. All leaders can benefit, but particularly established managers and leaders who feel settled in the basics of design management and might need a refresh on their mindset and approach. This workshop, like any Design Dept. workshop, has the best ROI of any learning program I’ve taken and will certainly pay off in the months, quarters, and years to come.
— Aaron Brown, Product Design Manager at Yelp
DLF II is opportunity to reflect on the way you lead, learn new skills and approaches, and scale your management practice with a group of likeminded leaders and incredible facilitators. Get ready to have your mind blown.
— Brandon Labbe, Product Design Manager at Square
If you’re ever managing a team it’s vital to understand the different orientations of managing and how to coach up your team, this workshop helps you lay out a foundation to successfully lead in different scenarios.
— Zain Ali, Brand Manager at Instacart
I already described this to a colleague as “transformational”! But honestly, we talk about about being and becoming our Best-selfs at 15Five and I felt myself move closer to this during the workshop this week. I came away wishing I’d known about these frameworks years ago when I first started managing people, but now I’m excited to put this into action and more efficiently and effectively scale myself and my team.
— Holly Kennedy, VP of Design at 15Five

Session Details

Dynamic leadership
Leadership is a multi-dimensional, creative practice. Today’s leaders embrace models and mindsets as diverse as the challenges they face, and are flexible and responsive in how they lead. This introduction to modes of leadership gives participants opportunities to explore models and mindsets that are critical to developing a dynamic leadership style.

Leading through others
Delegation is not only a successful tool in scaling yourself, but it’s also a great opportunity to help your team develop new competencies. Learn the different types of delegating and how to gracefully share responsibilities with your team.

Intro to coaching
As creatives transition into leadership, they often rely on directing and problem-solving as a primary interaction model with their teams. Coaching is a powerful tool to empower your team and scale yourself. Develop skills to introduce coaching as a new mode of leadership into your practice to help your team thrive.

Sustainable Leadership
The key to scaling your leadership comes from within—a combination of awareness, discipline, and resilience. However, it’s easy to find yourself feeling stuck at different phases of growth. Making the shift from a reactive state to a creative one, begins with identifying where we’re already stuck. Learn to break away from old habits that limit your impact.
