Scale your impact and influence

In this management workshop, we’ll tackle the “leadership style” myth and explore important mindsets that help you adapt to both organizational and individual needs. You’ll learn how to lead through others, build alliances across the org, and shift from a reactive to a creative mental state.

Deliberately progressive; offering lots of practical tactics and conceptual applications for effectively scaling as a leader.
— Maxine Wicks, Director Product Design UX at Target
DLF II is an outstanding primer on deeper, more sustainable leadership that can unlock new ways of thinking and growing in your creative leadership practice. All leaders can benefit, but particularly established managers and leaders who feel settled in the basics of design management and might need a refresh on their mindset and approach. This workshop, like any Design Dept. workshop, has the best ROI of any learning program I’ve taken and will certainly pay off in the months, quarters, and years to come.
— Aaron Brown, Product Design Manager at Yelp
DLF II is opportunity to reflect on the way you lead, learn new skills and approaches, and scale your management practice with a group of likeminded leaders and incredible facilitators. Get ready to have your mind blown.
— Brandon Labbe, Product Design Manager at Square
If you’re ever managing a team it’s vital to understand the different orientations of managing and how to coach up your team, this workshop helps you lay out a foundation to successfully lead in different scenarios.
— Zain Ali, Brand Manager at Instacart
I already described this to a colleague as “transformational”! But honestly, we talk about about being and becoming our Best-selfs at 15Five and I felt myself move closer to this during the workshop this week. I came away wishing I’d known about these frameworks years ago when I first started managing people, but now I’m excited to put this into action and more efficiently and effectively scale myself and my team.
— Holly Kennedy, VP of Design at 15Five

Session Details

Dynamic leadership
Today’s leaders are flexible and responsive, embracing models and mindsets as diverse as the challenges they face. This management course explores the essentials of a multidimensional, creative leadership practice.

Leading through others
Delegation is a great opportunity to both scale yourself and help your team members develop new competencies. In this design management course, you’ll learn different ways of delegating and how to gracefully share responsibilities with your team members.

Intro to coaching
As creatives transition into leadership, they often rely on directing and problem-solving as a primary interaction model with their teams. Coaching is a powerful tool to empower your team and scale yourself. Develop skills to introduce coaching as a new mode of leadership into your practice to help your team thrive.

Sustainable leadership
The key to sustainable leadership comes from within. It’s a combination of awareness, discipline, and resilience. As you transform from a manager to a leader of leaders, it’s easy to find yourself feeling stuck at different points of growth. You can’t shift from a reactive state to a creative one without first identifying where you’re currently stuck. This creative leadership course teaches you how to break away from old habits that are holding you back and limiting your impact.

A note about remote

Our remote workshop formats are highly interactive, providing multiple opportunities for you to learn from our facilitators and from other leaders in the Zoom room.

No preparation or homework is required. We don’t expect you to do anything before the workshop other than create the space and time for focusing with us.

We do expect participants to show up ready to contribute. We also ask that you keep cameras on during conversational sections, so find a place where you can do that comfortably. We don’t mind pets, kids, or partners walking around in the background—it’s life these days!

Each workshop is:

  • taught live by one of our instructors via Zoom

  • a blend of lecture, solo reflection, group discussion, and small-group activities

  • mindful of the importance of safe spaces (breakout rooms) for small-group activities

  • an opportunity to learn and grow, and includes your own printed workbook to use in solo and group activities
